The Dojo-Kun is the philosophy of
the dojo. It is by remembering these principles and applying them to your training (and all other aspects of life) that you will keep sight of and attain your goals, whatever they may be.
Dojo-Kun
* Be Humble and Polite
* Be Loyal to Karate-Do
* Strive to Reach your Limits
* Be Patient and not Discouraged
* Work to Develop a Healthy Mind and Body
Courtesy and respect are extremely important aspects of Japanese culture. These are carried over into the practice of karate. From the moment you enter the dojo, your every action should reflect courtesy and respect to the sensei and to your fellow students. Black belts are always treated with the highest respect and should be addressed as Sensei (teacher) and upper belts should be addressed as Sempai (senior student).
Everyone is expected to stop at the doorway and bow upon entering and leaving the dojo to show respect for the place in which they practice.
